Artwork > About Us

1982 - We started The Turtle Gallery in a small storefront on the Main Street of the village of Deer Isle.

1996 - Fourteen years later we moved up to the 1876 Centennial House and barn where the gallery now resides.

2020 - Anna Edgerly-Moore joined our team as Gallery Assistant and has become an integral part of our year-round team.

2021 - In light of the difficulties facing our community and the world, we committed to reinvesting in our island and arts friends by contributing 10% of our sales from our September Ceramics showcase to the Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts.

2022 - We celebrate our 40th year by contributing 4% of our profits to Island Workforce Housing which is dedicated to creating affordable housing on Deer Isle.

2024 - This year we focused our exhibits on artist educators and in the spirit of that, we contributed to Project Launch which supports local students and their families in making a successful transition from high school to meaningful post-secondary learning and opportunities.
